The Godspeed Rune (真神行法の紋章, Shin Shinkōhō no Monshō, True Spirit Travelling Method Rune), localized as True Holy Rune for Suikoden and Suikoden II, is a rune which appears in several games in the Suikoden series.

In the first game, this unique rune comes equipped on Stallion. When Stallion is in your party, your movement speed is doubled. As there is no running feature, this can be a very useful skill.

Information

This unique rune, not one of the 27 True Runes, was borne by Stallion, vastly increasing his speed, leg strength, and running stamina. This rune helped make even the further distances easily traversable and allowed the bearer to escape from most any confrontation with ease.

Its rarely seen lower order variant was the Holy Rune.

Name

This rune was originally localized in Suikoden and Suikoden II as the True Holy Rune leading many to believe that it was one of the 27 True Runes. This is an understandable mistake as the first kanji "真" is the same kanji used at the start of each "True Elemental Rune" name as well as in the term "True Rune" itself. The name "Godspeed Rune" isn't really a more or less accurate localization from a strict translating perspective. In truth, the term is just quite hard to localize but Godspeed Rune does remove confusion while still giving you an idea of what the rune is.

Suikoden Tierkreis

While the concept of runes is unknown to the world of Suikoden Tierkreis, the Godspeed Talisman, a rare piece of equipment, doubles your movement speed in dungeons and towns.

Trivia

  • Technically, Cedric bears the rune in both Suikoden IV and Suikoden Tactics. It doesn't make an appearance as a usable rune, though, as he is only a support character in IV and doesn't come equipped with the rune in Tactics. Instead, he comes equipped with a unique skill called True Godspeed which greatly increases his movement range.
