Magus (メイガス, Meigasu) is an enemy that appears in Suikoden.
The Magus has high STR and MAG, making it a potentially high damage dealing foe. Its low CON, however, makes it easy to defeat with physical attackers in the player's party. This glaring weakness prevents the Magus from being a serious threat to a party.
Information
This highly powerful sorcerer was spotted within Moravia Castle during the Gate Rune War. They manipulate fire magic and mercilessly burn to death any intruders found within the castle.
Some say that due to their pale skin and the fact that their feet are not visible underneath their robes that these Magi may be dead, the ghosts of famed magicians past, but the truth remains unclear.
It is said that there are those who have defeated this monster and obtained the precious Fortune Rune in the process.

Etymology
Magus traditionally meant a member of a hereditary priestly class among the ancient Medes and Persians as well as, usually in the plural magi, the traditional three wise men from the East paying homage to the infant Jesus. Nowadays it is used more as a synonym for magician and does share the same Latin origin as the word magic.
