History
|
Hong Long was a duelist who gained notoriety for felling Liu Shao, a highly regarded swordsman in their country. He was a giant of a man, nearly seven feet tall, and bearded. He was also a powerful martial artist, able to smash stone with a single kick. He was also not above underhanded tactics in duels, such as throwing burning powder in the eyes of opponents.
He would, through an intermediary, hire the mercenary Genshu to kill Liu Shao, one of the most skilled warriors in the country. This murder allowed him to become the main dojo master in their home town by claiming he killed Liu Shao after the latter instigated a drunken fight.
He absorbed most of Liu Shao's students after his death, running his dojo carelessly and without and respect to personal morals or self-discipline. This left his students sloppy, ill-dressed, and prone to squabbling and in-fighting.
Hong Long was eventually confronted by Liu Shao's daughter, Liu Mei. Although he would defeat Liu Mei with his dirty tricks, he would find himself at the mercy of Genshu, who had come to save the girl.
Facing off in a duel, Genshu would easily outwit Hong Long, despite his knowledge of Genshu's Iaido swordplay. His life would be spared, though he was severely maimed and would never be able to fight again.
