Futch (フッチ, Fucchi) is a supporting character in Suikoden, Suikoden II, and Suikoden III. Futch is a Dragon Knight and the partner of Black and Bright.

Futch is a Dragon Knight who was partnered with the dragon Black. During the Gate Rune War, Futch and Black were hired to escort Tir McDohl and his party to Magician's Island. Futch introduced himself to the members of the Imperial Guard and promised that they would arrive at Magician's Island quickly[2]. Though Futch was not quite what many had thought of when they heard of the dragon knights[3], Futch saw them to Magician's Island safely, and awaited at the shores for their return[4]. Futch grew impatient waiting for Tir and his party, and nearly left without them[5], but managed to wait it out until Tir and his party arrived, though he was still impatient to leave[6]. Futch returned Tir and his party to Gregminster. His job completed, Futch thought he would take a look around and wondered if Black would enjoy visiting the theater [7].
Later in the war, Futch and Black would be reunited with Tir when Tir came to Goya[8]. Futch helped Milia inform Joshua Levenheit of Tir's arrival. When the Toran Liberation Army sent Liukan to inspect the sleeping dragons of the Dragon's Den and he revealed that the dragons had been poisoned, Futch said that he felt that someone had sneaked into the Dragon Knight's domain[9]. In order to make an antidote, Millia and the Toran Liberation Army travelled to Seek Valley in order to gain one of the antidotes, Moonlight weed. At the same time, Futch and Black, hearing from Liukan that another needed item, the black dragon orchid, could only be found in Gregminster Palace's Floating Garden, rushed off to gain the second ingredient by themselves[10].
At the Floating Gardens of Gregminster, Futch searched for the flower most similar to the one that Liukan had described, eventually finding the Black Dragon Orchid[11]. Futch was aided in identifying the flower by Emperor Barbarosa Rugner, who confirmed Futch's guess[12]. After questioning Futch, Barbarosa allowed him to leave, the flower in hand[13]. Futch quickly followed Barbarosa's instructions to leave quickly[14], but was unable to leave before Windy arrived. Windy, noting that she had arrived just in time[15], attacked Futch as he was leaving, declaring that he was an uncouth boy who needed to be taught a lesson[16]. Windy's magic struck Black and Futch and sent them tumbling through the air. By the time Futch and Black were recovered by the Toran Liberation Army, Black was dead[17]. Fortunately, Futch was still alive, and held the Black Dragon Orchid within his hands[18].
When Futch awoke, Liukan told him that he had managed to make an antidote[19]. Futch asked Liukan what the third ingrediant was[20], and while Liukan proved hesitant to tell him[21], Joshua Levenheit eventually told Futch the truth: the third ingrediant had been Black's liver[22].
Shortly after, Joshua Levenheit called Futch into his presence, telling Futch that, as he had lost his dragon, he could no longer stay with the Dragon Knights[23]. Futch understood, and thought that Black had allowed himself to die in order to save Futch's life[24][25]. Joshua Levenheit asked a friend of his, Humphrey Mintz, to look over Futch, claiming that he would not worry about Futch while he was with Humphrey. Joshua Levenheit urged Futch to take care, noting that he may one day be able to return to Goya[26]. Flik, attempting to cheer up Futch, offered to teach him how to wield a sword[27]. Leaving Goya, Futch joined the Toran Liberation Army.
Futch spent much of his time with the Toran Liberation Army in mourning for Black, noting that Black had been a great dragon[28]. After the last battle, Futch declared half-heartedly that Black had been avenged[29].
Following the end of the Toran Liberation War, Futch departed with Humphrey on a journey[30].

Trivia
- Futch's weapons in Suikoden and Suikoden II, Verserk, Sigmund, and Sigurd are all names of Norse heroes, although Verserk is a poor translation of Vorsung. Vorsong was the father of Sigmund, who in turn was the father of Sigurd, the slayer of Fafnir.
