Defending Obel (オベル攻防戦, Oberu Kōbō-sen, Obel Naval Battle) is a naval battle that occurs in Suikoden IV. It is the fifth such battle of the game.

Information

This battle took place off the shores of the Kingdom of Obel, the first battle between the Kooluk Empire and Obel as part of the Island Liberation War and Kooluk's Southern Expansion Policy.

At the beginning of the battle, the Obel fleet was greatly outnumbered and overpowered by the 3rd Kooluk Fleet. However, the hero would use his Rune of Punishment in desperation, wreaking havoc on the Kooluk ships and greatly diminishing their numbers.

With the 3rd Kooluk Fleet's manpower greatly reduced, the Obel forces were able to rally and repel their attackers. This victory would be short-lived as a renewed push from the Kooluk fleet would force the reveal and retreat of the Headquarters Ship from Obel, beginning the creation of the Allied Forces.
