The Wall Rune (ぬりかべの紋章, Nurikabe no Monshō) is an effect rune that appears in Suikoden II, Suikoden III, and Suikoden V.
This rune greatly improved the defense of its bearer. However, this came with a large cost. The bearer of this rune cannot take any action other than defending attacks.
As the name implies, the Wall Rune allows the bearer to become a wall for their allies, but nothing more. Combining the Wall Rune with other runes, such as the Firefly Rune and the Knight Rune may give the bearer of the Wall Rune more utility.
The rune was said to be inspired by a demon that looked like a wall.

The nurikabe is a yōkai from Japanese folklore. It manifests as a wall that impedes or misdirects walking travelers at night. Trying to go around is futile as it extends itself forever. Knocking on the lower part of the wall makes it disappear.
