Vincent de Boule (ヴァンサン・ド・ブール, Vansan do Būru) is a character in Suikoden and Suikoden II. Vincent is an aristocrat prone to fanciful claims although his noble standing is called into question by some.
Biography

Vincent de Boule considered himself of pure aristocratic stock[1] and claimed to be a lord, vacationing in Kunan[2]. He also claimed to be on his way to visit Joshua Levenheit of the Dragon Knights[3].
After escaping paying for a bill in Antei, he journeyed to the Dragon's Den where he attempted to persuade the gatekeeper to allow him entry, claiming to be a close friend of Joshua's[4]. Refused, he showed Tir McDohl, Flik and Humphrey Mintz a secret entrance into the cave, where he claimed to play as a child[5]. He did not accompany Tir and the others, however, citing his nobility[6].
He was later captured by general Kasim Hazil and imprisoned in Moravia[7] along with Viktor and Warren. He was freed during the Toran Liberation Army's rescue attempt on the castle, and proclaiming eternal gratitude, vowed to aid Tir by joining the Liberation Army[8]. Following the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Vincent returned home where he claimed his inheritance[9].
Noble status
Vincent's noble status, especially in the first Suikoden, is something of a mixed issue. Vincent himself declares himself to be an aristocrat[10], whereas the inn owner declared him a fraud[11]. He also tried to talk his way into the Dragon's Den for reasons unknown[12]. He was refused entry but whether he was lying[13] or victim of an unfortunate coincidence is also a mystery[14].
Flik declared him a fraud in Antei[15] but also called him aristocratic scum at the Dragon's Den[16]. Whatever the case, whether he was a true fraud or a noble fallen on hard times, it appears his inheritance ensured his status by Suikoden II.
