Biography

Suikoden

I guess you've done your job. You're apparently not totally useless.

—  Kraze Miles

Snide and scornful, Kraze Miles was the Commander of the Imperial Guard during the Gate Rune War and a symbol of the corrupt spirit of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Though considered somewhat of a weakling[2], Kraze was unafraid to treat those under his command with scorn[3]. When Tir McDohl, the future leader of the Toran Liberation Army was briefly assigned to his command, Kraze promised Tir that he would receive no special treatment[4]. Kraze Miles sent Tir on two missions: to receive the Astral Conclusions from the Seer Leknaat and to investigate the taxes of Rockland with the help of Kraze's assistant, Kanaan.

Following Tir's expulsion from the Imperial Guard and subsequent rise as the leader of the Toran Liberation Army, Kraze Miles was reassigned to the town of Kouan. Kraze blamed Tir for this, cursing Tir for denying him a promotion[5]. During this time, Kraze abducted Eileen, the wife of the prominent trader Lepant[6]. Lepant, with the help of Tir McDohl, came to rescue his wife and upon meeting them, Kraze wasted no time in telling Tir what he thought of him. However, unfortunately for him, Kraze found himself outnumbered by enemies[7] and his threats to harm Eileen should they come near him failed[8]. Tir would prove the victor of this battle of wills, as even Kraze's threat of what would happen to his father Teo McDohl if something happened to Kraze[9] proved ineffective. Tir refused to spare Kraze Miles, saying that Kraze was the one person he could not forgive[10] and so Kraze’s life came to an end.

Trivia

  • Kraze is the only character in Suikoden I that can be executed without imposing any long-term penalties on game completion. If you do not execute him, he will run off, never to be seen again, and Gremio will chide you for it, although Cleo will praise Tir for having a big heart.
  • Kraze's fate comes from the novelization of Suikoden.
