Culgan: Difference between revisions

Culgan (クルガン, Kurugan) is a supporting antagonist in Suikoden II who also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol.1. He is a general of the Highland Army who shifted his loyalties from Luca Blight to Jowy Atreides during the Dunan Unification War.

History

Culgan was an officer of the Highland Army possessed of solid judgment and intelligence. Although he may not have always lived up to it, deep inside he possessed a strong sense of justice and would do anything for a cause he dedicated himself to. He was much more reserved than his colleague Seed and his sword technique was of excellent quality. In addition, he also bore a Thunder Rune, allowing him to use powerful lightning magic.

During the Dunan Unification War, Zaj Quiroz, on behalf of the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia, requested Culgan to track down Nash Latkje in Greenhill Forest. Together with Seed, Culgan was able to bring Nash down but because Seed had been poisoned during the fight by Nash's Twin Snake Sword Großer Fluss, Culgan agreed to let Nash go in exchange for the antidote.

As the Dunan Unification War wore on, he gradually came to feel that Luca Blight's continued presence would bring catastrophe to the Highland Kingdom and lent Jowy Atreides his secret support in plotting against him. However, although Jowy would overthrow Luca, in the end Highland would fall and Culgan perished alongside Seed in L'Renouille Palace attempting to fight off the New State Army.
