Dale (デイル, Deiru) is a character who appears in Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 4. He was Zamza's tutor in the field of magic.
History
Dale was Zamza's magic teacher who wielded both a Lightning and Fire Rune. He agreed to train Zamza who was seeking to find a way to use his Fire Dragon Rune. Dale would frequently insist that Zamza call him "master", with the cocky Zamza rarely reciprocating.
He had begun a journey to meet a beautiful scroll maker he had heard rumor of and brought Zamza as a companion, a decision he would quickly regret. He was not without his own quirks; he had a weakness for drinking and gambling which saw him lose most of what he owned on his journey. He had even sold his Rage Rune for potch at one point.
When a horde of ivy monsters attacked their caravan, he and Zamza would attempt to fight off the creatures with their Fire Runes to protect Erin and her father. However, it was not until Zamza used his Fire Dragon Rune to attack the creatures with his fists that they would be fully driven off.
Dale would expel Zamza as his student for this, dismissing his actions as mere brawling. Still, he gladly gifted Medicine to Zamza for his burns, tacitly giving his support of Zamza's path of magic training.
