The Star Dragon Sword (星辰剣, Seishin Ken, Zodiac Sword) is a supporting character in Suikoden, Suikoden II, and Suikoden III. The Star Dragon Sword is an incarnation of the Night Rune and is known for slaying vampires.

The Star Dragon Sword is an incarnation of the Night Rune that resided in the Cave of the Past at Qlon Temple. When Tir McDohl and Viktor travelled to the Cave of the Past in order to find a weapon powerful enough to defeat Neclord, they came upon the Star Dragon Sword floating over a slab. Though Cleo warned Viktor not to get too close to the Star Dragon Sword[1], Viktor assured her it was no problem and told her not to worry[2], but upon getting closer to the Star Dragon Sword, the Star Dragon Sword began to rotate, and claimed that he who awoke the Star Dragon sword would be cursed[3].
Once Tir McDohl, Viktor, and Cleo had recovered from the Star Dragon Sword's curse, the Star Dragon Sword spoke to them once more, this time addressing Viktor[4]. Though Viktor insisted that he had not done anything[5], the Star Dragon Sword asked him if he had an important mission[6]. When Viktor replied that he was going to kill Neclord[7], the Star Dragon Sword, tired of sleeping, told Viktor to pull the Star Dragon Sword out[8]. Though Viktor found the Star Dragon Sword pretty arrogant[9], the Star Dragon Sword replied that he had no choice but to take the sword should he wish to kill Neclord[10]. As Viktor took the sword, the Star Dragon Sword called Viktor partner[11], which Viktor bristled at[12].
When Viktor and the Star Dragon Sword returned to Warriors' Village, Viktor asked the Star Dragon Sword to say hello to Zorak[13], but the Star Dragon Sword felt that being asked to say hello to a human was an insult[14]. Zorak was sceptical of the Star Dragon Sword[15], but the Star Dragon Sword boasted that vampires were nothing to him[16]. Cleo remarked that the Star Dragon Sword was much like Viktor in that both could be overconfident[17].
Wielding the Star Dragon Sword, Viktor was able to injure Neclord. As Neclord gaspeed at the power of the sword[18], the Star Dragon Sword boasted of being an incarnation of the Night Rune, and dismissed Neclord as merely a servant of the darkness, who was therefore fighting against him in vain[19]. Using the Star Dragon Sword, Viktor cleaved Neclord, ostensibly destroying the vampire.
For the rest of the Gate Rune War, the Star Dragon Sword remained partners with Viktor. As Viktor claimed it was time to go following the siege of Gregminster Palace after the last battle[20], the Star Dragon Sword claimed that Viktor sure knew how to treat a man[21]. Following the end of the war, the Star Dragon Sword was presumed missing alongside Viktor[22].
Trivia
- The Star Dragon Sword's name would be more properly translated as the Zodiac Sword. The Star Dragon Sword gained its name through Konami's translation of Suikoden, when they translated the kanji making up the name of the Star Dragon Sword/Zodiac Sword individually - thus 星辰剣 became Star (星) Dragon (辰) and Sword(剣), rather than Zodiac sword. The name Zodiac Sword remains popular in the fan community, however.
