The Sun Rune Incarnation (太陽の紋章の化身, Taiyō no Monshō no Keshin) is an enemy which appears in Suikoden V. It is the final boss of the game and the incarnation of the Sun Rune.

Information

This was the incarnation of the Sun Rune, which Marscal Godwin transformed into in the depths of the Sindar ruins in the Ashtwal Mountains.

It looked similar to a giant butterfly, with the figure of a woman, visually similar to its previous bearer, Queen Arshtat in its center. In battle, it is supported by a Guardian Heat Sprite and a Guardian Light Sprite, who both attacked the party and healed the Sun Rune Incarnation. These guardian sprites would also revive themselves eventually even if defeated.

The Sun Rune Incarnation specialized in powerful sun magic attacks.

Strategy

The Sun Rune Incarnation's use of sun attacks makes characters with a high Su affinity preferable for this battle. This boss, and its minions, favors targeting the character in the front row.

A good strategy is to have the hero equip the sun equipment set available in the ruins and place him in the front row alone, using a formation such as Arrow Stance. With this setup, even a low-level hero will only need occasional healing. A strong party can place the hero at the front of the Illusion formation and go all-out with attacks.

As the Sun Rune Incarnation will revive its guardian sprites, and their damage and healing is limited, it is recommended to ignore them. The battle ends when the Sun Rune Incarnation is defeated, regardless of the status of the sprites.

Trivia

The Sun Rune Incarnation's attacks are named after deities in ancient Akkadian literature.
