The Kingdom of Obel (オベル王国, Oberu Ōkoku) is a nation that appears in Suikoden IV and Suikoden Tactics. It is the most prominent member of the Island Nations Federation.
Information
Obel is located in the south-eastern reaches of the Island Nations and is the largest of the nations there. It is also the home of Island Nations Federation founding leader, Lino En Kuldes.
During the events of the Island Liberation War, it was ruled by King Lino whose policies made him a popular monarch. This nation's ruins once contained the Rune of Punishment, one of the 27 True Runes. The rune would be taken by the Queen of Obel and would later cut a path of misery through the region.
The nation was attacked and occupied by the Kooluk Empire early into the Island Liberation War but would later be liberated by the Headquarters Ship-led alliance and would go on to be one of the founding members of the Island Nations Federation. Due to its size and influence, it is the primary member of the Island Nations Federation and commands much respect within the region.
