Alen (アレン, Aren) is a supporting character in Suikoden who makes a cameo in Suikoden II. During the Gate Rune War, Alen is a member of General Teo McDohl's Armored Cavalry, along with his colleague Grenseal.

A subordinate of Teo McDohl, Alen is a talented flame-wielding warrior. During the Gate Rune War, Alen was part of Teo McDohl's forces. When Teo McDohl attacked the Toran Liberation Army at Toran Castle, Alen joined the ensuing attack. Following the Toran Liberation army's withdrawal from the battlefield, Alen was ordered by Teo to follow the Toran Liberation Army and crush them[1]. When Pahn challenged Teo for a duel, Teo changed his orders, asking Alen and Grenseal to stand down and later ordered them to retreat following his defeat by Pahn[2]; despite this order, Alen offered to take Pahn's head for Teo [3], to which Teo quickly rebuked Alen and repeated his orders.
Following the Toran Liberation Army's use of the Fire Spear, Teo McDohl's Armored Cavalry was decimated. Despite this, Alen vowed to battle down to the last man[4]. When Teo challenged Tir to a duel, Alen worried about Teo[5], but once more Teo warned Alen to stand down.
When Teo was defeated, Alen pleaded with Teo to hold on, unsure of what the empire would do without him[6]. However, unable to change his fate, Teo ordered Alen and Grenseal to join Tir, saying it was the best thing for them to do[7].
Alen consented to Teo's final wish, and served the Toran Liberation Army throughout the remainder of the Toran Liberation War. Following the Toran Liberation war, Alen became one of the Generals of the Republican Guard, serving along with his colleague, Grenseal[8].
