Maximilian (マクシミリアン, Makushimirian) is a character who appears in both Suikoden and Suikoden II. Maximilian is the leader of the once proud Maximilian Knights and is ably assisted by his squire, Sancho.

Maximilian was the leader of the once highly-regarded Maximilian Knights which had been ordered to disband in the past[1]. During the Gate Rune War, Maximilian, accompanied by his loyal squire, Sancho, attempted to aid in the Toran Liberation Army's attack on Moravia, not realising they were too late and the region of Senan had already been taken[2]. Encountering Hero (Suikoden), Maximilian offered to join the Liberation Army as his final job after realising just who it was he was talking to[3], wishing to go out in a blaze of glory[4].
After the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Maximilian was stated to have retired from the knighthood[5].
