Ranch Fun is a mini-game available in Suikoden III. On the outskirts of Budehuc Castle was Kathy's ranch where visitors could enjoy horseback riding. Depending on the player's time, they can even win prizes.
Difficulty levels
Players choose the difficulty level before beginning a race. All courses have the same shape, with three laps around a circular course and a target time to beat. The number and placement of obstacles, such as barrels and wooden boxes, vary by difficulty.
The mount the player rides when racing through the course varies depending on their controlled character. While a Zexen horse is standard, Hugo rides a Karayan horse or, if Fubar is in the party, he rides Fubar instead. Koroku races by himself, and Chris and Geddoe also ride different breeds of horse.
Speed and handling depend on the mount and so there are three different sets of times to aim for based on whether the player is riding a horse, racing as Koroku, or using an alternative mount. Racing as Koroku is a good way to get a feel for the course and practice at a slower space. Koroku does not win prizes, even if the player means the target times.
