Yam Koo (ヤム・クー, Yamu Kū) is a supporting character in Suikoden and Suikoden II. Yam Koo is a fisherman and the sworn brother of Tai Ho.

Yam Koo is a fisherman and the sworn brother of Tai Ho. The two met during a gambling brawl and have been friends ever since[1]. Unlike Tai Ho, Yam Koo tended to be more logical and didn't live his life purely by chance, calling Tai Ho's whims "Big Brother's madness"[2].

Yam Koo was swept away in one of Tai Ho's whims when Tai Ho and Yam Koo escorted Tir McDohl to Toran Castle. When Tai Ho joined the Toran Liberation Army, Yam Koo joined along with him.

During the war, Tai Ho met Kimberly Yam Koo, knowing Tai Ho's weakness for women, tried to protect Tai Ho from Kimberly[3].

Following the end of the Gate Rune War, Yam Koo lived near the shores of Lake Toran, where he continued to live a carefree life[4] and enjoyed fishing[5].

Yam Koo followed Tai Ho to the City-States of Jowston, helping Tai Ho escape his now-wife Kimberly. Tai Ho and Yam Koo met Riou in Coronet and helped transport Riou and his party to Kuskus.

Later, Tai Ho agreed to join the New State Army, and Yam Koo agreed to go along, with some reluctance[6]. At North Window Castle, Yam Koo showed a passion for fishing, even encouraging Riou to get into the sport[7].

Following the war, Yam Koo returned to the Toran Republic, where he enjoyed a life of fishing in Lake Toran[8].
