Speed (速度, Sokudo) is a recurring statistic in the Suikoden series. It traditionally determines turn order in battle.

Information

Traditionally, the Speed stat determines when during a turn that a character's action takes place. In turn-based games of the series, commands are input for each character individually before actions are taken by both the player party and the enemies, with the character with the highest Speed stat executing their action first, followed by the character with the second highest Speed stat, and so on.

In Suikoden III, the Speed stat influences how far a character can move as well as the number of attacks they can use during their turn. A character with a high Speed stat can close the distance from a distant enemy and still unleash a full attack, while those with low Speed may find it difficult to get into position to attack effectively. Skills such as Holy Dash and Swing can augment high Speed characters and aid slow Speed characters.

Suikoden Tactics, like earlier turn-based games, uses the Speed stat to determine the order of each character's turn. The main difference is that you select character actions when it is that players time in the turn order, rather than entering in all party commands before letting the turn play out.
