Ain Gide (アイン・ジード, Ain Jīdo) is a character in Suikoden. A general of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Ain Gide stayed true to Barbarosa Rugner throughout the Gate Rune War.

A general of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Ain Gide is a warrior who served under Barbarosa Rugner since the time of the War of Succession. Following the end of the Succession War, Ain Gide was appointed General of the Fortress of Kwaba. A close friend of Teo McDohl[1], when Teo's son Tir McDohl became a fugitive from the Scarlet Moon Empire, Ain Gide allowed Tir McDohl and his party to pass through Kwaba Fortress, despite the qualms of his subordinate, Rosh[2].
Ain Gide did not betray the Scarlet Moon Empire, however. A loyal man, Ain Gide remained a general in the empire throughout the Gate Rune War, though Kwaba Fortress was never attacked. At the last battle. Ain Gide waited outside of the gates of Gregminster Palace for the Toran Liberation Army, putting himself between the castle and the attackers. Ain Gide refused to give way to them[3]. Though Tir Mcdohl and his party were hesitant to fight Ain Gide[4], they had no choice but to battle him in order to enter the castle. Ain Gide was unsuccessful at repelling Tir McDohl's party, and so perished attempting to protect the Emperor. In his last words, Ain Gide promised that he would go on ahead of Emperor Barbarosa[5].
Trivia
- Despite having General rank, he is not counted among the Five Great Generals of the Scarlet Moon Empire.
- The meteor storm attack that Ain Gide uses is not available through any Rune in the game.
- Cleo is the only character in the entire game to refer to Ain Gide by only his first name[6].
