Agares Blight (アガレス・ブライト, Agaresu Buraito) is a supporting character from Suikoden II. Agares is introduced as the ruler of the Highland Kingdom, although he is quickly marginalised by his son Luca Blight as part of the latter's maniacal plans.

Biography

Suikoden II

Agares Blight was a moderate king who, upon rising to the Highland throne after the passing of his father, Robert, sued for peace during the First Jowston-Highland War. He was never truly able to love Jillia, due to the nature of her conception and his son, Luca, held him responsible for the madness and eventual death of his wife, Sara. Following this, a grief-stricken Agares failed to place adequate checks on Luca, ironically generating more contempt from his son for being weak-minded.

By 460, Agares was seen as a weak and incompetent monarch based on his lack of control over Highland. He let Highland slip from his grasp throughout the Dunan Unification War, a war instigated by Luca, and was eventually assassinated after sipping from a poisoned chalice supplied by Luca and Highland General, Jowy Atreides. Luca Blight then took the throne as King of Highland.
