A Reader (読み手, Yomite) is a term used in Suikoden Tierkreis for those who can transcribe Chronicles.
Information
A Reader is one who has the ability to extract knowledge from a Chronicle and transcribe it as understandable text. This ability is one of the Mark of the Stars and as such is an ability of Starbearers.
The mage arts of the Magedom of Janam are highly based on the work transcribed by Readers over the years. However, being a Reader also exerts a lot of energy and, if done often enough, is invariably fatal.
Before escaping the Arcane Academy, Manaril was the only known Reader and was used so often, it was feared that her death was imminent.
