Suikoden II

It is a soldier's duty to follow orders.

—  Hauser

Hauser is a talented soldier who served as the commander of the Muse City forces. Hauser was held in high esteem and was believed to ensure the safety of the city[1] as the strongest general in the City-States of Jowston[2]. Hauser believed that the Highland Army massed at the Muse-Highland Border was a threat, but was unable to convince other leaders of the danger during the Hilltop Conference.

After the fall of Muse, Hauser, along with Jess, headed to Tinto. When Neclord came to Tinto, Hauser and Jess raised troops against him. Though Hauser saw the military strategy supported by Jess was risky[3], but supported them because the law of Muse placed Jess as acting mayor. Despite high casualties, thanks to the intervention of the New State Army, Jess and Hauser were successful in defending Tinto and wiping out Neclord's zombies. Afterwards, Jess and Hauser became part of the New State Army.

Hauser fought in many of the battles of the Dunan Unification War, slowing Highland forces from occupied Muse during the occupation of Greenhill, aiding the escape of Riou from the Golden Wolves of Muse, commanding a unit in the liberation of Rockaxe, and participating in the Final Battle.

After the war, Hauser became the commander of the Dunan Army[4].

Personality and Traits

Hauser was said to be extremely tough and devoted to his job[5]. He was considered the best military commander not only in Muse, but in the City-States of Jowston[6].

Hauser had a deep respect for the law of Muse and was willing to die to uphold it[7]. Hauser believed that a soldier should never act on personal feelings and vowed not to act as a soldier for any reason but for reason of law so long as Muse still existed[8].
