Gilbert (ギルバート, Girubāto) is a character in Suikoden II who also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Volume 2. He is a Zexen native who is also the leader of a mercenary band.
Biography

Gilbert's mercenaries were hired by the Highland Army for the first assault on Muse city under the command of Solon Jhee. Upon skirmishing with the defending forces, Flik, who with Viktor was an acquaintance of Gilbert in the past[2], appealed to Gilbert's honour to persuade him to switch sides mid-battle. Following the battle, Gilbert continued to serve with the New State Army through the Dunan Unification War as an infantry captain.
When he travelled to Dunan looking for a war to fight in, he left his wife, Mary and son, Thomas behind in Zexen[3]. He attempted to send them a letter during the Dunan Unification War but mistakingly posted in the Suggestion Box[4].
Following the end of the war, he returned to his family in Zexen, tired of warfare[5].
