Childerich (キルデリク, Kiruderiku) is an antagonist in Suikoden V. Childerich is a member of the new Nether Gate, founded in secret by the Godwin Faction.

History

Childerich is first seen as an arena gladiator who fought in the Sacred Games, representing Gizel Godwin. With the aid of Gizel's machinations, he would emerge victorious in the tournament, winning Gizel the right to marry Princess Lymsleia Falenas. In reality, however, Childerich was an assassin and member of Nether Gate. As Oboro was unaware of his identity, it is assumed that he appeared after the original Nether Gate was disbanded once Queen Arshtat gained the throne.

Following Gizel's marriage to Lymsleia during the Sun Rune War, Childerich would be appointed as one of his new Queen's Knights. Courtly behavior was beyond him, however, and Childerich delighted in carrying out massacres and senseless killing, such as the massacre he carried out in Doraat in order to "teach a lesson" to its inhabitants for being captured by the Imperial City Recapture Army. When the Hero's army threatened the city of Stormfist, Childerich would confront the Prince's party at the Stormfist arena.

Once defeated, he ingested an excessive amount of Raging Nostrum, filling himself with anger and power and attacked again but was defeated once more. Dying from the effects of the drug, he would die on the arena floor.
