Kirke (キルケ, Kiruke) is a supporting character in Suikoden. Kirke is an executioner who describes his sole talent as "cutting off heads."

History

My job is cutting the heads off criminals. But as you see, business has been slow lately. —  Kirke

We're an armed rebellion, I think we can find a role for you.

Kirke was an executioner who was based at the Fortress of Lorimar, remarking that business had been slow, due to Neclord's reanimation of the dead in the region.

His work, decapitating criminals, had left a profound darkness in his heart, gone unnoticed even by himself. The invitation extended to him to join the Toran Liberation Army allowed him to escape his disliked job, giving him a new chance in life.

As a member of the Wild Geese unit, the scythe that had once come down on the necks of the condemned was now drawn out for the new world he fought for. He would wield that same scythe, with its hatchet-like blade, in battle for the Liberation Army.

Following the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Kirke changed careers, he would give his scythe to Lorelai exchanging it for a plough and becoming a farmer.

Trivia

• Kirke's three weapon names are derived from Tarot cards.
• Kirke has become somewhat of a memorable optional character because he wants to make sure you are completely okay with the fact that all he knows how to do is cut off heads.
