Good afternoon. Ah, is that a 'Sound Set?' We phonologists use them to create sounds, you know.

—  Connell

Connell grew up an appraising phonologist, being raised to work in the field from a young age by his father. He would eventually travel to the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia and studied phonology in Crystal Valley, hoping to become accomplished in the field as his father some day. Connell's field led him to be able to manipulate emotions through sound.

When the Dunan Unification War broke out in 460, he returned to his home in Greenhill Principality's Forest Village, worried about his younger sister. Returning home, Connell was in Greenhill City during its initial siege by the Highland Army. He was able to help the captive Teresa Wisemail escape by using his Sound Rune to stun the rebelling Muse City soldiers with a cacophony of noise.

Eventually returning to the Forest Village, Connell would be asked to join the New State Army and he would agree, stating that he would like the chance to hear the sound of people's hearts.
