Zahhak (ザハーク, Zahāku) is an antagonist in Suikoden V. He is a member of Falena's Queen's Knights who supports the policies of the Godwin Faction.

History

Zahhak was a skilled swordsman who served in the Queen's Knights. He was distantly related to the Godwin Faction and it was Marscal Godwin himself who noted Zahhak's excellent talents with a sword and nominated him to the Queen's Knights. It was said his skill with a sword was only second to those of Georg Prime and the Commander of the Queen's Knights, Ferid. His calm judgement was said to be another of his key attributes that led him to be a talented Queen's Knight.

He agreed with many of the Godwin's social and political beliefs and so would betray the royal family, participating in the Godwin coup at the Sun Palace which ignited the Sun Rune War. Zahhak's cold nature meant that he was fully prepared to sacrifice innocents in order to achieve his objectives, such as when he razed the town of Lelcar in order to stymie the advance of the Imperial City Recapture Army.

Remaining a member of the Queen's Knights, now under the command of Gizel Godwin, Zhahak would clash with the Imperial City Recapture Army several times over the course of the war. He would be defeated alongside Alenia in the final battle as the attempted to protect the Sun Palace. He would perish from the effects of the Raging Nostrum he took liberally before the battle.
