Shams (シャムス, Shamusu) is a major character in Suikoden Tierkreis. Shams is the young, but capable, crown prince of the Magedom of Janam.

History
Shams was born the son of Mage Lord Danash VIII and 3rd Empress Consort Kureyah, making him the crown prince of the Magedom of Janam. He grew into a friendly, helpful royal and cared deeply for his sister, Manaril, who he knew was being mistreated in her role as a reader at El-Qaral's Arcane Academy.
As such, he requested that the Company rescue Manaril from her predicament, being used as a tool in the power struggles of the Empress Consorts. Although Shams also had the opportunity to escape El-Qaral, he would choose to remain, dedicating himself to changing the nation from the inside.
As he was in Salsabil at the time of the 10th world fusion, Shams would survive the ordeal and would be known as the King of Salsabil. However, when Shams awoke as a Starbearer, through contact with the spirit of Rizwan, he had to endure the memory of his lost homeland and family alone. He would eventually reunite with the Company and his sister and would ally Salsabil with the Company, joining the force personally.
He would also be reunited with his old royal chef, Wustum, at Company Headquarters. Wustum would be dismayed that Shams' taste buds had been obliterated by the overly spiced and seasoned foods served at the Imperial Palace and endeavoured to retrain Shams' palette entirely.
Following the war, King Shams promoted trade and created stronger relations with foreign nations, such as the United Kingdom of Ritterschild.
