—  Scharff

Scharff was a cook from Fairpeak who had achieved a reputation as a rising cook, his delicate cuisine using seasonal vegetables gaining particular fame.

When the Holy Imperial Army's 3rd Branch marched against the Vermilion Axe, Scharff was conscripted as a cook and marched west towards Martylion with the force. He was frustrated as General Dilom Lances insisted the soldiers' meals be made with cheap ingredients, while demanding only the finest Ionian food for himself.

Passing Tourmarie, he was enraptured by the beautiful wheat there and soon returned, planning to use the wheat to bake better bread for the soldiers. Always focused on his craft, he did not notice the flying Terrus Firma flying over Tourmarie and had to be quickly bundled into a hut for his safety by the Company as they engaged the monster. After witnessing their victory, Scharff decided to join the Company, despite not knowing who they were.

Incredibly spacy, Scharff was softly bemused and uninquiring about anything he encountered, including time travel and learning techniques from the 108 Stars in a flash of light. It was said that this was due to him focusing all of his intellect on cooking, to the deterioration of his common sense.

Following the fall of the barrier, Scharff continued his vocation, often disappearing suddenly, only to be found struggling to incorporate unknown vegetables into his cooking.
