Melodye (メロディ, Merodi) is a character in the original Suikoden game. She is a young woman looking for a rare rune to unlock her own special ability.

Melodye is a young phonologist residing in the town of Kirov who longed passionately for a Sound Rune after a Runemaster told her that she was born to use one[1]. During the Gate Rune War, Melodye ran into Tir McDohl, the leader of the Toran Liberation Army, in her home town and discovered that he himself happened to have a Sound Rune in his possession[2]. After he generously gave it to her, the young girl quickly joined the Liberation Army's cause, using her phonological skills to aid the force to the best of her ability[3].
Following the end of the war, Melodye took off with her Sound Rune to explore all the sounds of the world[4].
