Gordon was the owner of Gordon's Mercentile, a successful trading concern in Gregminster, capital of the Toran Republic. As his success grew, he thought about leaving his Gregminster store to his son, Coates, and opening a new store[1]. When he met Hero (Suikoden II), and recalled that Shu, a great trader in his own right, was in Jowston, he agreed to set up shop within the New State Army on one condition; that Riou himself earn over 50,000 potch through trading alone. When the task was complete, Gordon gladly bequeathed his store to his son and moved his business to Jowston.
Gordon has several "secret trade memos" which Richmond found during his investigations of the man[2][3][4]. During the Dunan Unification War, he served in the rearguard for the New State Army. Following the war, Gordon continued to live in the new Dunan Republic working for the expansion of his business[5].
