Ivanov was a painter whose freedom was taken by Milich Oppenheimer[1]. During the Toran Liberation Army's siege on Scarleticia Castle, he beseeched Hero (Suikoden) to give him his freedom[2]. Following the defeat of Milich, Ivanov remarked that he had never seen true freedom[3] and asked Tir to allow him to join the army, so he could see real freedom[4].
At Toran Castle, with the aid of paints discovered over the course of the Gate Rune War, Ivanov completed a mural of prominent Liberation Army officials. Delighted with the progress he had made on trying to discover freedom, he gave Tir his binoculars. Following the end of the war, Ivanov set out on a journey, to try and discover the "color of freedom[5]."
Trivia
