Schmidt (シュミット, Shumitto) is a character in Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 1. He was a general of the Scarlet Moon Empire who conspired with Geil Rugner to steal the throne from Barbarosa Rugner.

Schmidt was a general of the Scarlet Moon Empire under the direct supervision of Geil Rugner who aligned with him during the War of Succession. He was famed for his silver armour and wielded a battle-axe in battle. When General Teo McDohl tried to march to Gregminster he was obstructed by Schmidt and his 2,000-strong mounted cavalry, along with the 1,000-strong cavalry of Bergen, at the Fortress of Kwaba.
Schmidt planned to have General Teo fight without his Armored Cavalry by kidnapping his son and holding him hostage. However, the plan failed when his son was rescued and the battle went ahead. Schmidt's forces fought bravely, but foolhardily and was defeated.
