Tanya (ターニャ, Tānya) is a supporting character in Suikoden IV. Tanya is a scholar and librarian with a view to becoming a student of the strategist Elenor Silverberg.

History

I'm happy that there's more space to put books than I expected. Perhaps we could even turn my room into one big bookshelf. —  Tanya

This fog is the perfect time for Tanya to strike.

Tanya was a scholar possessing clear thought and rational thinking. She was willing to enter dangerous situations to satisfy her thirst for knowledge which led to her journeying to the Nest of Pirates in search of Elenor Silverberg. There, she encountered the Allied Forces and joined the crew of the Headquarters Ship, presiding over the ship's library.

As a crewperson, she would often enter into conflict with Agnes over receiving the teachings of Elenor with Agnes acting very protective of her position as Elenor's protégé. Tanya, on the other hand, would often be jealous of Agnes' role in Elenor's life.

On board ship, she would manage the ship's library by taking care of the Old Books passed onto her. She took to this duty with delight, expressing joy in the size of her facilities. She was also somewhat possessive of her room, seemingly encouraging Haruto to leave the library to her.

Over the course of the Island Liberation War, Tanya would develop an interest in the history of the Island Nations. Following the war, she would begin research into the region's history and began writing up her findings with a view to publication.
