Rubi (ルビィ, Rubii) is a character in the original Suikoden game. Ruby is an argumentative elf who left the Village of the Elves.

Rubi was an elf who abandoned the Village of the Elves after pointing out its adherence to tired, old traditions, when Kirkis, whom he knew in some fashion, was a youth[1]. During his time away from the elven community, Rubi found himself mentioned on the Black List[2], a list of suspicious and potentially dangerous characters seen around the Scarlet Moon Empire[3]. Rubi also seems to be missing his left eye, how or if this happened is never addressed, and thus remains a mystery.
During the Gate Rune War, he travelled to Kobold Village where he encountered Kirkis again. He rebuffed Kirkis' request for him to join the Toran Liberation Army, calling him "a runt"[4], but later reversed his decision and agreed after realizing what a great warrior Kirkis had become in his absence[5]. Following the Liberation War, Rubi was welcomed by Kirkis into the restored Village of the Elves[6].
