Nakula (ナクラ, Nakura) is a supporting character in Suikoden V. Nakula is a fighter in the Armes Southern Mountain Corps, consumed with the need for revenge against his father's killers.

Biography

Nakula was a lancer of the Darja Clan who fought in the Armes Southern Mountain Corps during their attempt to ally with the House of Barows. Once the Armes forces were repelled by the combined armies of the Prince and Dilber Novum, Nakula was captured and wounded near Sable and taken in for treatment. It was assumed that the ferocity he showed in battle before he fell was in order to ensure the safe retreat of his commander, Jidan Guisu.

However, when he reawakened, it was revealed that his reason for fighting so valiantly was not out of any loyalty to Jidan Guisu but in order to stay in Falena. He told of how he was planning to exterminate all Nether Gate members in order to gain revenge for the assassination of his father by the group when he proposed drastic measures against Falena. Although suspicious of the Prince at first, as the royal family was supposed to be in charge of the Nether Gate organisation and then enraged when he saw Sagiri, the woman who murdered his father when she was just a child, Nakula was able to be persuaded that it would be in his best interests to join the Imperial City Recapture Army as they were, in part, battling Nether Gate. Nakula agreed not to extract revenge on Sagiri until the end of the war.

Nakula actually has a twin brother in Armes, although the two rarely speak as his brother doesn't view the vengeance of his father as an important matter compared to his own life. During the war, he often clashed with Shigure, the overprotective companion of Sagiri much to the dismay of Fuyo. Nakula kept to his word, however, never attacking Sagiri although he often kept a close watch on her. He held no real loyalty to Armes and so fought without hesitation against the Armes forces once they allied with the House of Godwin.

After the end of the Sun Rune War, Nakula departed for Nagarea in order to hunt down more Nether Gate survivors. Before he left, however, he left a Sagiri with a warning, saying, "I'll get you last".
