Kai (カイ, Kai) is a supporting character in Suikoden. Kai is a master stickfighter who trained Tir McDohl in the use of his staff.

Kai was Tir McDohl's former bo staff instructor[1][2] who disappeared mysteriously one day, only saying that he was going for a walk. Years later, during the Gate Rune War, Kai encountered Tir again at the Fortress of Garan, where Kai wanted to journey west, but was prevented from doing so[3] and later offered his services to the Toran Liberation Army[4]. Even after becoming leader of the Liberation Army, Tir always referred to Kai as 'Master Kai.'
Following the formation of the Toran Republic, Kai became one of the country's Six Great Generals and instructed troops in the use of bo staffs[5]. By the year 475, Kai vacated his position and currently holds the title of Honorary General.
