History

O-Oh dear, I'm really worried about this... I wonder what we should do...

—  Guwaini

Guwaini was the featherfolk chief of Gugleion during the HIY 300 Teras Pharma conflict. He was also a malicite craftsman, being the person who made malicite for his brother Bhutruga. As chief, he was said to be cautious to the point of cowardice but also able to make quick, bold decisions if need be.

When the Company first arrived in Gugleion to attempt to secure featherfolk cooperation against the Vermilion Axe, Guwaini was unwilling to commit to a position. Taking his time to deliberate on the matter, he did agree to allow Ouya, and Bhutruga to aid the Company in their mission.

Later, hearing of the Yggdrasilian Throne's claim that the Company was a faction of the Vermilion Axe, Guwaini would leave Gugleion. Concerned for his fellow featherfolk, he would begin a journey to the Company's lake fortress. Upon reaching Schradt, he would be a witness to the Company's sinking of the Floating Fortress of Torgia.

Learning the truth of the Holy Empire of Ionia's actions and their framing of the Company, Guwaini would pledge his support, unwilling to let the featherfolk be trampled by lies and admitting he should have done so sooner. As a symbol of his cooperation, he would also join the Company himself as a malicite crafter.

As a featherfolk malicite crafter, Guwaini garnered a variety of reactions from his fellow crafter Starbearers of the past. Nikumba was worried that his presence indicated that the featherfolk had abandoned their peaceful ways. Chikura meanwhile had already taught featherfolk his skills. His malicite student, Irin, would go on to teach Guwaini in turn while her husband Wan tutored Bhutruga.

Following the fall of the barrier, after spending several months patiently persuading those who didn't want to leave the forest, he was finally able to lead a featherfolk migration from Gugleion.
