Laquila (ラクイラ, Rakuira) is a supporting character in Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki. She is a magicite crafter filled with self-loathing for her role supplying magicite to the refiant.

Biography

People who used my magicite in battle, so many of them died... How can that ever be okay...? —  Laquila

Laquila was a magicite crafter from the Holy City of Thaksis who created magicite for the remaining refiant to use during the HIY 100 Teras Pharma conflict.

Supplying magicite to the refiant despite knowing their lives would be shortened using magic against the Teras Pharma affected Laquila greatly and after the war, she was highly traumatized and frequently broke down emotionally, filled with self-loathing for what she perceived as her role in wiping out the refiant.

Cleion would come across Laquila in the Apiro Hills and attempted to soothe her spirits with his music, to limited success. The hero would also try and raise her spirits, thinking her guilt was that of someone who didn't fight on the frontlines. Cleion would direct the hero to Perie Grove in order for them to learn the source of her troubles.

When she learned that a refiant, Lethe, was still alive and living in Perie Grove, Laquila would immediately leave to profusely apologize. Lethe would forcefully rebuff her, stating that the refiant chose to fight and sacrifice themselves to protect their world and that, even unintentionally, Laquila was slighting that sacrifice. Breaking down again, Laquila apologized once more, but recognized the wisdom of her words.

Returning to the Apiro Hills, Laquila would be very grateful to the hero and noticeably brighter, if still self-deprecating. She would be able to pass down her skills to Gino and Forne. Both would try and encourage her to think better of herself, Forne in particular noting her talents as "praiseworthy".

Following the fall of the barrier, she would return to Thaksis and assist Nolbanos Nobilious in analyzing the magic that the Mountain Roots and the Grubs had kept secret. In a branch of the Infinity where Renefarious continued to reign, she continued as a magicite crafter, researching in an attempt to create more efficient magicite for magicians.
