Zaveed (ザヴィド, Zavuido) is a major character in Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki. Zaveed is a shaman of the Vermilion Axe, burning with hatred for the Holy Empire of Ionia.

History

We will pursue any means necessary to fell that Blighted Tree, Ionia! That's all there is to it!! —  Zaveed

Zaveed was a shaman who held a strong hatred for the Holy Empire of Ionia. He participated in the original Martylion uprising, which was thwarted by the Holy Imperial Army. He was saved by Aaron Barcai and since then had been fiercely loyal to him, helping him as a member of the Vermilion Axe.

Fiercely hostile to the hero for his opposition to the goals of the Vermilion Axe and his tolerance of Ionia, he accompanied Aaron on his march towards the Holy City of Thaksis. He attempted to stop the company at the Apiro Hills but was defeated.

When the Vermilion Axe marched on the Great Wall of Achlites, Zaveed was one of the group's key leaders. As the Vermillion Axe offense buckled without Aaron's forces, Zaveed attempted to infiltrate the Great Wall to throw open its gates, only to be thwarted and captured by the hero's group. He was brought to Achlites to convalesce and questioning. He was not cooperative, however, and so was left to recover.

Escaping from his confinement in Achlites, Zaveed would overhear that Aaron had likely gone to Mt. Plegate. He stated his intent to travel there, in order to learn when Aaron abandoned the battle at the Great Wall, for the sake of his lost comrades. The hero asked Zaveed to accompany them, reasoning that they now shared the same goal, even temporarily. Zaveed would bemusedly agree.

Learning the truth of Ionia's role in the creation of the Vermilion Axe and their actions in cultivating Teras Pharma enraged Zaveed further and he urged the company to strike at Thaksis immediately, to bring down the Yggdrasilian Throne. He was able to calm down and continued to cooperate with the group.

Working together with Zephon, Zaveed was able to use his knowledge as a Vermilion Axe shaman to confirm that Ionian created Teras Pharma were being used to populate the land outside of the barrier. Although he didn't get along with many members of the company due to his extremely dogmatic anti-Ionian views, he formed a mutual respect of sorts with Regius, the latter even tutoring him in ninjutsu, though the revelation of Regius' past in the Mountain Roots temporarily shook that connection.

Following the fall of the barrier, Zaveed disappeared from the lake castle without being seen. No one knows his whereabouts.
