Warlock (ウォーロック, Uōrokku) is a supporting character in Suikoden IV. Warlock is the inventor of the Rune Cannon and a powerful magician.

Biography

Tell Pablo not to take an interest in Rune Cannons.

—  Warlock

Warlock was the great magician who originally created Rune Cannons. Roughly 10 years before the outbreak of the Island Liberation War, Warlock summoned a Giant Tree from another world and was able to discover a way to utilise that creature's magical abilities to create a new weapon; the rune cannon. This new weapon would quickly spread far and wide, quickly becoming indispensable in naval combat around the Island Nations region.

A stubborn craftsman, he would not answer any questions about their creation or design. This was because Warlock regretted having ever created such a weapon. In order to prevent further information about rune cannons from becoming known, he would decide to live without company in his hidden laboratory in Middleport.

When the Island Liberation War, broke out Warlock would join the Island Liberation Navy after hearing about the destruction of Iluya Island by Kooluk's giant Rune Cannon. He wished to help to end the war swiftly and atone for his sins. Pablo would become something of an apprentice of his during his time on the Headquarters Ship but he was cagey about the subject of Rune Cannons even with him.

Although Warlock fought to atone for his sins, many found them not so easily absolved. Following the war, he was accosted by a militant group determined to make him pay for his crimes and was killed.
