Ships (船, Fune) are a technology in Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki.

Overview

Ship-building technology was an Old World technology used to cross bodies of water, such as rivers and seas.

Following the erection of the barrier, collisions with the barrier led to cases of ships either sinking or becoming irretrievably lost at sea, leading to ship technology being suppressed by the Mountain Roots organization. By HIY 200, the knowledge of ships had been completely removed from the population, and by HIY 300 the principles behind buoyancy were practically unknown.

The Vermilion Axe would obtain knowledge of ships from prohibited documents, allowing them to create small boats which were used to cross rivers without bridges. This gave the Vermilion Axe a massive tactical maneuverability advantage over the Ionian Army, who could not plan for their use, having no knowledge of the technology themselves.

Judiela witnessed the Vermilion Axe crossing the river in boats while the Epat Bridge was blocked and estimated that the combined abilities of the Orosk Village crafters working on the concept could possibly replicate the technology within two months.

As the struggle against Ionia reached its peak, the Era Tree was used to ensure ship-building technology would be maintained in secret over the centuries, allowing the Ionian Army's Floating Fortress of Torgia to be attacked directly.
