Helmut (ヘルムート, Herumūto) is a supporting character in Suikoden IV. Helmut is a captain with the Kooluk Empire's navy.

Biography

I'll help you end this war quickly. If you think I'm about to betray you, then kill me. —  Helmut

Helmut was the son of Colton and captained the Razril occupation forces during the Island Liberation War. As an Kooluk officer, he was considered highly competent, which is why he was entrusted with such a responsibility despite his young age.

When occupied Razril was besieged by the Headquarters Ship, Helmut was also shown to be an officer who cared for his men when he agreed to surrender peacefully in exchange for the lives of his men. In exchange, he would not be executed himself but would join the crew of the Headquarters Ship for the remainder of the war.

He would later be reunited with is father, who was taken prisoner after the liberation of Obel but chose not to reveal this information to his new allies. Helmut apologised to his father for what he saw as his betrayal but would be absolved by his father who remarked that there was more to the world than Kooluk.

Once the war ended, he disappeared alongside his father and has not been seen since.

Trivia

• Helmut's weapon upgrades in a way similar as the swords of those from the Warriors' Village, but without a special name: Officer's Sword, Officer's Sword +, and Officer's Sword ++.
