Basil (バジル, Bajiru) is a supporting character in Suikoden IV. Basil is a tops player and a good friend of the hero.
Biography

Basil was a friend of the hero who lived in Razril. He was not a member of the Knights of Gaien but still played frequently with the hero, especially in his favourite game; tops.
When Razril was occupied by the Kooluk Empire, Basil managed to keep himself safe and following the island's liberation by the Headquarters Ship would volunteer to join its crew. On board, he would spend his time entertaining others with his games.
He refuted any accusation that he was lazy, countering that he was ensuring everyone was relaxed and taking proper breaks from their work. As time passed, he grew more and more comfortable with the sailing life, especially enjoying Funghi's food for the first time.
Following the Island Liberation War, Basil would spend some time on Nay Island before becoming a crew member on a merchant ship and setting sail once again.
