Oannes (さかなモンスター, Sakana Monsutā, Fish Monster) is an enemy which appears in Suikoden.

Oannes are not especially strong enemies although their comparatively high HP can lead to them lasting longer in battle than expected. These extra turns can begin to wear on a party's HP as they traverse the Toran Lake Castle if they are not adequately prepared.

Etymology

Oannes is a 3rd century BCE Babylonian mythical being who taught mankind wisdom. He was said to have the body of a fish but underneath the figure of a man. He is described as dwelling in the Persian Gulf, and rising out of the waters in the daytime and furnishing mankind instruction in writing, the arts and the various sciences.
