The centennial monsters (百年目の怪物, Hyakunenme no Kaibutsu) is a term used in Genso Suikoden Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki.

Information

The term "centennial monsters" referred to the Teras Pharma. The term was used due to their piercing the barrier and attacking the protected lands of the Holy Empire of Ionia and outlying territories every 100 years.

The use of the centennial monsters moniker rose as the centuries past, especially following the people of Ionia's deliberate decision to suppress information on the origins of the Teras Pharma after the unexpected victory in the HIY 100 conflict against the monsters.

By HIY 200 the term was used by most, save for those with direct knowledge and contact with the Holy City of Thaksis such as Berenique Nobilious. In the year HIY 300 the term was almost universal. When the hero's group traveled to Thaksis for an audience with Renefarious XIII they had little knowledge of the term "Teras Pharma" with the Holy Emperor explaining it was an ancient term for the centennial monsters.

Following this, use of the term centennial monsters would drop away as the Company used the Teras Pharma moniker in their interactions with others in the present and the past.
