Adlai (アダリー, Adarī) is a character in Suikoden II who also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Volume 1. Adlai is an eccentric inventor who came up with a form of elevator.
Biography
Background
Adlai is an eccentric inventor from South Window whose experiments severely annoyed his neighbors[2]. Adlai also travelled to Tinto where he installed an early elevator, though it was rarely used due to it being perceived as being dangerous[3].
Suikoden II

Adlai met Riou while the young leader was in South Window. Adlai demanded Riou fetch him a Sacrificial Jizo, a Wooden Shield and a Wind Crystal. After fetching all three things, Riou threw the Wind Crystal in Adlai's face. He approved of Riou's standing up for himself and decided to join the New State Army[4].
Adlai built an elevator in North Window Castle. He considered the elevator his greatest work[5] and felt people should thank him for it more often[6]. Adlai also saw his inventions disappear from time to time[7].
Following the end of the Dunan Unification War, Adlai returned to South Window, where he continued to invent and annoy his neighbors[8].
