This Suikoden III (幻想水滸伝III, Gensō Suikoden III) save file allows players to play a save file of the PS2 Classic version of Suikoden III with data imported from Suikoden II, something not normally provided for by the game.

The file is saved 2 minutes into Hugo's first chapter. You cannot start a new game with the Suikoden II data, merely continue this save file that already has the data uploaded.

Currently, it has only been tested on NTSC PS3s but will not damage PAL PS3s or PS3s from other regions.

Instructions

1. Download the file linked here. [1]

2. Unzip the file onto a USB stick, keep all directories intact.

3. Insert the USB stick into your PS3.

4. On your PS3, browse to Game > Saved Data Utility (PS2) > Your USB Stick

5. Choose to import the Suikoden III file. If you already have a Suikoden III file, you will be asked to override it. Do so.

6. Start your PS2 Classics Suikoden III game.

7. On Memory Card 1 should be a file, 2 minutes in. This file has Suikoden and Suikoden II data uploaded.

8. Load it and play on!

Details

1. I do not know if this will work outside of North America but it won’t damage your PS3 to try. If it fails, just delete the saved data in the Saved Data Utility (PS2) section and start your game again.

2. As importing overwrites your old saves, if you have made progress in Suikoden III you want to keep, make a back up first and import that back in with the steps above if you don’t want to keep this file.

3. Old Tenkai/Castle/Flame Champion names cannot be changed, naturally.

4. You’ll also miss the opening to Hugo’s chapter as getting to a save point to make the save file is a thing that had to be done. But after importing you can start a new game, watch it and then load the save.

5. This has been tested and works on my own NTSC PS3.
