The Scribes (スクライブ, Sukuraibu) are a race that appear in Suikoden Tierkreis. They possess great knowledge relating to Chronicles and world fusion.
Information
The Scribes were a human-like race who lived in the Noslaw Woods. The line patterns covering their body are not natural. Instead, at the age of 12, young Scribes get what are called "Scribe tattoos" applied to their bodies.
This is not only a rite of adulthood. These magical marking also protect the bearer's memories when world fusions occur, regardless of their being a Starbearer or not. Therefore, all Scribes are aware of all world fusions that have occurred after their 12th birthday.
The Scribes also possess a Chronicle, the Chronicle of the Tatau Council. This Chronicle takes the form of tattoos also and is passed down through the tribe through the generations.
The Scribes came to this world as part of the 1st world fusion, along with their home, the city of Cynas. They would encounter Valfred, who would gain knowledge of the True Chronicle from them before going on to found the Order of the One True Way.
Soon after, the Scribes became reclusive, withdrawing to the Noslaw Woods, determined that no one would ever abuse their knowledge again. A magical barrier was erected to keep outsiders away. However, this all changed when Liu-Shen became the Elder Scribe.
Liu would encourage the Scribes to fight the Order, not just observe and judge. Following the war, the Scribes would begin to return to Cynas and cooperate with the other races of the world.
