Maha Sparna (マハ・スパルナ, Maha Suparuna) is an antagonist in Suikoden V. Maha Sparna is the Commander of the Armes Southern Mountain Corps.

History

Maha Sparna served as the Commander of the Armes Southern Mountain Corps. She was also a member of the influential Sparna family of the hawkish Darja Clan within the New Armes Kingdom. A consumate opportunist, Maha could be relied upon only to do what best served her immediate interests, even if it meant turning on allies or befriending enemies.

During the Sun Rune War, once Armes and the Godwin Faction formed an alliance, Maha and the Southern Mountain Corps quickly besieged Sable, as well as capturing Lordlake before joining with Childerich's army to take the headquarters of the Imperial City Recapture Army at Ceras Lake.

Once the Recapture Army began to push back against the invading forces, Maha pulled back her forces to Sable where she had her subordinate Jidan Guisu lead the front lines while she stayed within the town. When the Recapture Army engaged Jidan Guisu's forces, Maha quickly retreated to Armes and even destroyed the Sable-Armes border gate in order to ensure that she would not be pursued. Her cowardly actions trapped the Southern Mountain Corps and made their retreat impossible.

Although she managed to return to Armes, Maha was not welcomed with open arms. In fact, she became the scapegoat for the entire debacle of the Armes alliance with the Godwin Faction and was eventually executed for her cowardice in battle. Her actions and resulting execution severely weakened the influence of the pro-war Armes factions within the Kingdom.
